8. Ahom Imperatives

Imperatives are verb particles that adds an imperative mood to the sentence to emphasize request, command or order

8.1 Giving Commands

To give order, you just add the es (se) particle after the verb

ka! tI@ nnq@ es
(kàa tēe nān se)
- Go there

But even without it, if you don't use the khāa in end, then the sentence can sometimes in itself sound rude and like a command
ma# tI@ nj@
(máa tēe nāi)
- Come here

To the Tai people, it just sounds a bit rude/casual when you don't say khāa

8.2 Making Requests

To make requests, you use kháen tāw in the beginning or se kám in the end

ma# es kM#
(máa se kám)
- Please come

xVnq# eta@ n[q@ tI@ nj@ xa@
(kháen tāw nāng tēe nāi khāa)
- Please sit here

Or you could use both of them together to make a long sentence like “kháen tāw máa se kám”

8.3 Polite Mood

Though not really an imperative but if you just want to make a sentence polite then you can simply add khāa in the end
xopq@ c] xa@
(khāwp tsau khāa)
- Thank you

hUpq$ knq xa@
(hôp kan khāa)
- See you again

And, that was all for the imperatives lesson. Head out to tenses section, to learn more about verbs after this and check out the other lessons too.
