Nouns are naming words used to identify any class of people, places or things or to a name particular to one of them.
Based on the number of syllables, there are two kinds of nouns in Ahom:
1.1 Monosyllabic Nouns
Monosyllabic Nouns are those that have only one syllable and are in complete by themselves. They are the building blocks of Ahom language and since every word in Ahom is of one syllable-length, you can also think of them as one-word nouns. Some common monosyllabic nouns are as mentioned below:
1.2 Polsyllabic Nouns
Polysyllabic Nouns are made by combination of two or more monosyllabic nouns, they are the same as Compound Nouns. Some polysyllabic nouns are as mentioned below:
Please note that it is not always important for a polysyllabic word to be formed from meaningful monosyllabic words. Sometimes a compound word meaning can completely differ from the words they were made of and sometimes some word can be used in compound that quite frankly do not mean anything at all. This mostly happens in foreign-loaned words, though not always. Like the Ahom word for pants (which won't make any sense when broken down - it just means pants)
